Strengthening Your Business Partnership
Did you know that 80% of small businesses fail because of interpersonal conflict between partners?
Assess the health of your business partnership:
- Is your business the success you and your partner envisioned?
- Are you and your business partner no longer sharing enthusiasm and dedication?
- Are you and your business partner spending too much time in conflict?
If you have answered yes to one or more of these questions, we suggest that you read the following:
The most successful business can fail when the relationships of partners become dysfunctional. Like a marriage, chemistry and luck are important, but the ingredients that can make or break either kind of relationship are the interpersonal issues of trust, equity, fairness, and a clear understanding of what each partner expects from the other. A lack of any one of these ingredients can spell trouble for partners, and at worst can lead to business failure. Yet, as important as these issues are, most partners don't even discuss them before entering into a relationship.
Whether your business partnership is new or mature, it is never too late to make the time to discuss and build an Interpersonal Business Charter. Mediation Services of Maui provides trained mediators to guide business partners in discussion of roles, responsibilities, communication guidelines, fairness, and ownership. A business charter boosts the chances for success by increasing personal satisfaction and the effectiveness of the partnership.
Rate is $1,500.00 for 5 sessions.
This includes a pre-mediation commitment meeting (2 hours) and four 3 hour sessions.

Family Conferencing and Victim/Offender Mediation
This program is a collaboration between MSM, the District Court, the Public Defender's Office and the Prosecuting Attorney's Office. Appropriate cases include: theft, minor assault, vandalism and harassment. MSM determines whether Family Conferencing or Victim/Offender Mediation is appropriate.
Family conferencing allows the families of the victims and the offenders to come together to make a plan for restitution. Victim/Offender mediation allows the victim to face the offender in a safe, structured environment. Both types of mediation are conducive to healing, restoration of wrong doing, and lowering recidivism rate for further offenses.
Fees vary based on income.
